Marie-Pierre Laborie | University of Freiburg | Germany

Marie-Pierre Laborie received her Engineering degree from ENSTIB (University of Lorraine, France) in 1996.   In 2002 she earned her PhD from Virginia Tech Department of Sustainable Biomaterials working in the Wood Adhesion Lab.   She subsequently joined the faculty of the Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University where she was promoted to Associate Professor and received tenure in 2008.    During a sabbatical in 2008, at the International School of Paper, Print media and Biomaterials (PAGORA) of Grenoble Polytechnic Institute (France) she received an Habilitation in Materials and Process Engineering.   She currently leads the Department of Forest Biomaterials at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and is co-director of the Center for Interactive Materials and Bio-Inspired Technologies.   In 2012 she was awarded the " German high Tech Champion" title from the Fraunhofer Institute and elected  Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS).  She is the current Chair-Elect of the Cellulose and Renewable Materials Division of the ACS.
